Hon. Gov. Bactat, Makena R. - Official Headshot March 2022.png

Assistant President Makena R. Bactat is a native Californian and current resident of Aliso Viejo, proud to bring a diverse background of leadership experience to the Board of Governors. Having moved to the city she calls home today at age seven, Assistant President Bactat is no stranger to taking on new challenges. An Associated Student Body (ASB) leader since grade five, she went on to achieve great heights in student leadership, courageously taking on various posts with an open mind, which has in turn, taught her lessons in leadership, to push limits and explore what is outside of one's comfort zone for personal growth. She was admitted to JSerra Catholic High School in 2020, where she currently pursues academic excellence each day.

Furthermore, Assistant President Bactat serves as a Member of the Executive Board of the Orange County Student Sections since early 2022, where she made history with the most rapid ascent to the organization's highest office. Assistant President Bactat was elected Governor of the Young Leaders PAC for an unexpired vacant seat in the March 2022 Special Election. She offers herself to the calling of service every day, to the hundreds of thousands of youth who live, work, study and play in her diverse district.

On September 20, 2022, Assistant President Bactat was elected as Assistant President of the Young Leaders Political Action Committee, and Governor representing the fourth district, in the committee's inaugural by-district elections. She now remains thrilled to continue her groundbreaking leadership, working on behalf of the people, making a difference for the California she has called home for her entire life.

A Message from Governor Bactat

Welcome!

I’m Makena Bactat from Aliso Viejo, and I’m so happy to be representing such an amazing group of young leaders. Thank you for visiting my website portfolio and putting your trust in me to represent California students. I love serving my community, and as Governor, I can’t wait to give back to the community that has given me many opportunities to grow in character. I’ve had a lot of different leadership outlets, but I believe that this one will be the most beneficial. I believe I will learn a lot about this field of work. Again, thank you for putting your trust in me, and I will make sure to stand up for students. Please feel free to message me with any questions, and I will respond as soon as possible!

With much love,

MAKENA R. BACTAT
